RenaissanceRe employees help Womankind raise over £23,000
At this year’s London Marathon two employees from global insurance company RenaissanceRe ran for Womankind and raised over £10,000.
This was the first time Womankind has had runners in the London Marathon and it was a huge success, with our runners raising £23007.57 in total.
RenaissanceRe runners Aditya and Robin had their fundraising boosted by their company’s generous matching scheme which saw £1166.66 added to their fundraising total.
Empowering women
As 78p in every pound we receive goes directly to our development, campaigning or policy work, the money raised will go a long way to help women. It will support projects which empower women across the world claim their rights and take control of the decisions which affect their lives. Whether that’s through leadership training for women in Peru, an education institute for women in Afghanistan, or a safe house for survivors of violence in Ethiopia.
Are there Marathon hopefuls at your company?
Thousands of people miss out on a marathon place every year as up to four people apply for every place. Fortunately, as a charity, Womankind has five guaranteed places on the 2013 London Marathon. We just ask that runners pay a £100 registration fee and raise a minimum amount of sponsorship of £2500.
So if you think there might be someone you know, maybe at your company, who is interested in running the London Marathon then ask them to get in touch. If you have a company intranet or notice board you could even let people know about the places there too.
Apply today by filling in this form or emailing Tom Travell at tom@womankind.org.uk.
