Schools and young people around the UK campaigned to stop violence against women in the 16 days of Activism 2006, from International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on the 25th November to International Human Rights day on 10th December.
Envision Workshop - Museum of London
Envision invited Hannah to delver a workshop at their annual event located this year in the Museum of London. In amongst the relics of Londoners from the late Stuarts Hannah delivered a workshop on 'Violence against Women' that explored the issue through discussions on the mythology surrounding gender and violence. Power and control between men and women was explored with young men and young women identifying the social and cultural myths that can mould relationships. The participants then created a short snappy advert to stop violence against women and promote positive relationships. Already a London school is running an awareness raising campaign to stop violence against women in their school. Here are some pictures of the group wearing their white ribbons.

Colchester School
The school contacted WOMANKIND for support to deliver a White ribbon campaign across the school during the 16 days of Activism. Hannah worked with a year 11 class to develop their understanding of violence against women and how it is relevant to their life. The group looked at issues that could affect a friend and discussed support and advice that they could offer. They produced a short presentation to show at an assembly to the whole school, collected testimonies of survivors and planned a white ribbon stall to raise awareness of the issue and to promote support services. Here is a photo of their white ribbon stall and assembly.

Lots of other schools across the UK participated in the White ribbon campaign. Congratulations to everyone for their fantastic and inspiring work!
