Code of Practice

It is really important that schools and young people are able to identify and define sexual bullying. We have worked with schools across the UK to define sexual bullying.

"Groping, grabbing, insults eg. swear words, stereotypical gender roles, when appearance and sexuality are demonised." Young woman, School in Haringey, London

STOP SEXUAL BULLYING

Sexual Bullying in UK Schools

The sexual bullying campaign is part of the WOMANKIND 'Challenging Violence, Changing Lives' programme. We work with young people and teachers to identify sexual bullying in the school environment, define it in the school policies, raise awareness across the school and work on preventative strategies to stop it. We have developed whole-school strategies and resources to stop it. We believe that if schools do not challenge sexual bullying, they are creating an environment where violence against women is tolerated.

Flirting or Hurting?

We worked with a group of students from an East London school to produce a short film about their campaign to stop sexual bullying. This is a useful way to draw attention to what sexual bullying is, what you can do to stop it — and how interested young people are to participate.
