Really good as it is fun and helpful at the same time.

To tackle violence, transform attitudes and inform young people WOMANKIND Worldwide and Redmoth have developed a new and exciting website called ‘Respect4Us’. This on-line activiy tests participants’ knowledge about respect, responsibility, and violence. Participants interact with the different scenarios scoring KNOWLEDGE, RESPECT and SKILL according to what they do and what they know.

In an on-line neighbourhood, participants go to school, hang out with friends, pop into the newsagents, visit a refuge, go clubbing, get advice, and see the police. Throughout this journey participants are asked questions and learn about sexual bullying, violence, domestic violence, support services and centres, trafficking…

The Respect4us website allows students to share, develop and explore their attitudes towards key contemporary issues, providing them with valuable tools that will assist them in making informed choices. It could be used in teaching PSHE and Citizenship at key stage 3 and 4. Topics covered include sex and relationships, bullying and personal safety, issues of prejudice, human rights and the criminal justice system. Respect4us could be used as a stand-alone activity or alternatively as part of a series of lessons. Teachers can use the supporting CD-rom ‘Challenging Violence, Changing Lives’ to complement these resources or generate their own material. Graffiti art and the use of slang will make the website more accessible and attractive to its intended audience and engage students.
