Trusts & Foundations

Without Trust and Foundation support, we would not be able to do our important work.  We are fortunate to have gained the support of many charitable Trusts and Foundations who share our commitment to:

  • end violence against women
  • increase women’s participation in society and politics
  • secure women’s human rights through influencing policy and changing attitudes.

We, our partner organisations and the women we work with are most grateful for their crucial help.

We are most grateful to the Balcombe Trust which is currently supporting our three year project “The Nkyinkyim Anti-Violence Programme: Combating, Preventing and Responding to Violence Against Women in Ghana”.  The Trust’s generous grant supports our work with two of our partners in Ghana: Gender Centre and Window of Hope Foundation.  This important project extends a successful model for reducing violence against women and decreasing its public acceptability using Community Based Action Teams (COMBATs) in two new target areas: Daekrom and Mpatasie, which are both in the Atwima Kwanwonma District of the Ashanti Region.  The banner pictured above announces the launch celebrations of the new COMBAT team for Mpatasie in September 2010.

How we work with Trusts and Foundations

We are very keen to develop our relationships with Trusts and Foundations further – building existing and new partnerships, ideally on a long-term basis – in order to achieve even greater change in communities. We will be happy to provide you with more information on our work, or discuss how your Trust or Foundation can support us.

Grant types

We work in a number of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and we develop a range of projects across several different thematic areas.  So if your Trust or Foundation is interested in supporting a particular region, country, theme or project type, we can work with you to identify the best fit with your organisation’s own objectives and giving criteria.

  • Some Trusts and Foundations choose to give us grants for core costs, which cover capacity development of our partner organisations, strategic planning for new projects, innovation, communication and opportunities for sharing learning.
  • Other Trusts and Foundations prefer to donate grants to support specific areas/themes of our work or particular projects.

Whichever is the preference of your organisation, we can carefully structure a customised proposal for your consideration.

Reporting

We are committed to providing you with the level of reporting you require. We understand the importance of accurate and timely reporting that demonstrates clearly the impact of the work that we and our partners are doing. We are experienced in working closely with our partners to deliver this.  We regularly invite representatives of our Trust and Foundation supporters to events which provide opportunities for them to learn more about our work and to meet members of our partner organisations and staff. If appropriate, we can also arrange for representatives of your Trust or Foundation to visit the work you have funded and to witness first-hand the impact it is making in the local community.
