WOMANKIND Worldwide holds annual planning meetings with our East African partners to review progress and plan future activities. Held in each country on a rotational basis, such meetings enable partners to share their experiences, skills and knowledge to promote womens rights and freedoms and to coordinate workshops and training programmes that support womens own development and address their specific needs and concerns. They provide an opportunity for our partners to network, learn from one another and develop strategies for advocacy, lobbying and campaigning within their own countries to raise awareness of FGM and early, forced or marriage by abduction.
At regional and international level, we work with some of our partners to take part in UN meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women; the Commission on Human Rights and the Commission on the Rights of the Child. Our partners also work in consultation with specialised agencies such as UNICEF, WHO and UNFPA.
