Policy, Campaigns and Resources

Womankind recognises that the underlying causes of inequality and discrimination against women will not be solved simply by providing services and running projects for women in developing countries.

These efforts must be complemented by investing time and money into:

• shaping and influencing the laws and policies of decision-makers at all levels
• changing the way people think

A key focus of our work is, therefore, to inform and influence policy and practice at the local, national, regional and international levels.

Our policy efforts at the national and international levels are informed by the work of our partner organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America and draw on the experiences and challenges faced by women in their everyday lives.

We seek to bring about lasting improvements in women’s status and well-being through a combination of:

1. research and analysis
2. training and education
3. lobbying decision-makers
4. sharing learning and working with others
5. campaigns and events

And we have a particular focus on reducing violence against women and empowering women to play a meaningful role in the civil and political life of their communities and countries.
