In Nepali culture women who are widowed must follow a strict set of rules, such as wearing dull colours or white for the rest of their lives, and are excluded from social gatherings.

We have some good news to share on International Women’s Human Rights Defenders Day – our partner Women for Human Rights in Nepal have won an award for their work with widows.

“Now I give work to other widows so they don’t have to stay with violent families. I feel I have a place in the village and my son has a future.”
