WOMANKIND Worldwide focuses on improving the status, confidence and skills of women. Why?

Women’s human rights are simply ignored or sidelined in many countries. We want to stop the suffering and humiliation this brings, and instead ensure that women have the right to be themselves, have opinions and be able to pursue ideas and opportunities alongside men.

To deliver a real difference for women, it’s vital to have a sharp understanding of the barriers to women being empowered and know how to overcome them. Development charities need to actively seek out women’s needs and views, and find ways of involving women in decision-making in projects, or they risk overlooking the priorities of half of the population.

Finally, given the chance to have a say on what matters to them on community and national life, women usually opt for a safe food and water supply, better health and education – the essential ingredients for stability, peace and prosperity. This benefits us all.

What about men?

Many men want a better life for women too, and see women as the key to a more peaceful world. Men help our projects on the ground. Men work for WOMANKIND Worldwide in the UK. And men support WOMANKIND financially.
