Why is the merger between Women at Risk and WOMANKIND happening?

We always strive to ensure the donations we receive are used as effectively as possible. By bringing together two organisations with the same aim – to improve the lives of women around the world – we are able to make our activities more efficient and our money go further.

This move falls in line with the Charity Commission’s current thinking on avoiding duplication of work within the charity sector, as well as the public perception that there are too many charities doing the same work.

Who is WOMANKIND?

WOMANKIND Worldwide is a charity set up by Alec Reed, the same person who founded Women at Risk. Its main objectives are to reduce violence against women, increase women’s participation in their society and influence policies which affect women’s lives.

Will WOMANKIND continue to support Women at Risk’s partners?

Yes. WOMANKIND will be taking over the funding of Women at Risk’s current projects. They also support many other inspirational women’s organisations around the world.

When is the merger taking place?

The merger is taking place now and if you are a Women at Risk supporter you do not have to do anything to continue your support.

What will happen to my personal details?

WOMANKIND will treat your personal details with the same respect as Women at Risk and will not pass them on to any other organisation for their use.

What happens if I do not wish to be involved?

We sincerely hope you do want to continue to support the partnership between WOMANKIND and Women at Risk. However please contact Sue Turrell the Executive Director of WOMANKIND on 020 7549 0360 if you do not wish to be involved.
