Another huge success for the Royal Parks Half Marathon!

A huge thank you to everybody who ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon on behalf of Womankind. This year we had a staggering 23 runners raising over £9155.

Aileen and SallyOn Sunday 11th October, for one day, the capitals central roads were closed, offering runners a stunning 13.1 mile route, through four of London’s eight Royal Parks and passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and the Royal Albert Hall.

Much like every year on the day of the Royal Parks Half Marathon, the sun was shining bright and Womankind staff were at the event with banners and bubbly (for after the run of course!), cheering each and every runner on. Womankind were behind each runner every step of the way and we would like to congratulate each participant on their achievement and thank them for the vital funds they’ve raised to support women and girls around the world.

How our runners helped

  • Emergency help in UgandaKate and Becky £17 could cover the cost of emergency transport and medical help for a survivor of violence.
  • Fighting for rights in Liberia
£200 could pay for a grant for a journalist to fight violence against women and stand up for their rights.
  • Empowerment in Ghana
£523 could train a female student on women’s rights, voting and politics.
