Legacy FAQs

We know that your loved ones take priority when you’re writing your will. You can choose to also leave a gift in your will to Womankind by indicating an amount, or a percentage of your estate that you would like to leave as your legacy. A gift of any size will make a big difference to our work.

You can amend an existing will whenever you wish; adding a gift to Womankind should be straightforward. Your solicitor can write a ‘codicil’ for you, which you simply keep with your will, though you mustn’t attach it physically to it.

It’s up to you! Your will is your business, but when people let us know that they have left us a gift in their will, we are very pleased to have the chance to write and say thank you! You can use this form to let us know.

You can be confident that your gift will be making an impact to our work, and your legacy will be making a difference, enabling women to achieve real change in their lives.

Because we work with local women’s organisations, building them up through training and support, the legacy of our work remains even after a project or partnership ends. For every £1 we spend, 78p goes directly to our partners, our programmes and our policy and advocacy work. You can read more about our finances here.

We’ll be honest, Womankind does need to re-invest some money into fundraising, governance, and administration, to ensure the work of Womankind and our partners is sustainable for the long-term, but we ensure this is done in a cost-effective way. For every £1 invested in fundraising we generate a further £6.39.

Writing a will is the best way to ensure that your wishes are respected after you die. It gives you control over how your assets are distributed, which can help reduce uncertainty for you and your loved ones. Without a will, the law decides who gets what — which might not reflect your intentions.

Getting started on writing your will is easier than you might think. You can work with a solicitor for expert guidance, or use one of the free will-writing schemes available. We offer a free, professional, and confidential online will-writing service that gives you all the information you need to begin. You can write a will at any time once you’re over 18. Sadly, many people pass away without one, which can leave their loved ones facing legal and financial complications. Writing your will now gives you peace of mind, knowing your wishes will be followed and your estate will be protected. And if your circumstances change, you can update your will at any time for a small additional cost.

You don’t need a solicitor to write a will, but it must be properly signed and witnessed to be legally valid. Many people choose to work with a solicitor, a professional will writer or a trusted online provider to make sure their will is clear and enforceable. Our online will-writing service is free, easy to use, and available to you today here: https://farewill.com/womankind-legacy
