Why flexible funding?
Traditionally, funding for women’s rights organisations has come with restrictions on how it can be used. But in line with our pledge to balance power, Womankind does things differently. We aim to fund our partners flexibly, because we know the groups and organisations that receive the money are better placed to understand the issues they are facing and allocate funds accordingly. Flexible funding gives partners more agency in shaping and influencing decisions that affect their lives socially, economically and politically. It means less time spent on detailed proposals, budgets and reports, and more time tackling gender inequality.
Our approach to flexible funding
We partner together with women’s funds and other progressive funders of social justice and gender justice. In our commitment to resourcing the feminist revolution, we talk to donors openly about the impact flexible funding can have on feminist movements and we strongly advocate for more flexible approaches.
