How do you put feminism into action at Womankind?
I write and send email communication to our supporters, sharing updates about Womankind’s programmes and policy work plus news from our partner organisations in Africa and Asia. I also develop digital campaigns to help spread the word about women’s rights and gain support online.
Tell us about your feminist journey?
My feminist journey began when I became involved in the abortion rights referendum in my native Ireland. I organised protests, lead social media campaigns and canvassed door-to-door advocating for a woman’s right to free, safe and legal reproductive healthcare. Thankfully the Irish public voted in favour of increasing abortion access in 2018. After five years working in digital marketing, I’m happy to be putting my skills to good use amplifying the voices of women’s rights activists in Africa and Asia.
A feminist hero of yours?
Nina Simone – a supreme talent who smashed stereotypes and was both fearless and unapologetic about using her platform to demand change during the civil rights era in 1960s America.
