“First and foremost, I wanted to run for a charity that helps make the world a better, safer place for women.”
By Danni

Owing to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 London Marathon looked a little different to normal. Last October, instead of the usual April, thousands of runners were encouraged to forego the usual route through the capital in favour of a ‘virtual’ marathon in their local area.
Despite these changes, at Womankind Worldwide, we were lucky enough to be represented by 3 runners. Between them, they managed to raise a fantastic £8,220! We cannot thank them enough.
One of our runners was the brilliant Danni. As she prepared to embark on her 12th marathon, Danni was impressively brimming with enthusiasm ahead of the big day. When we spoke to her about her training, she said, “I am enjoying training as much as one can enjoy it. I am logging more miles and I am cross training twice a week. Although I am often tired, I remain motivated because I know that the ends will justify the means.”
No stranger to marathons, Danni has been running for 8 years, in which time she has completed, “1 ultra, 1 relay, a ton of halves and a sprinkle of 5ks.” This marathon means that she now a whopping 12 under her belt. Running the 26.2 miles on a route around Los Angeles, Danni raised a fabulous £2,245!
Reflecting on her love of running, Danni told us, “Running was once a hobby to me but now it’s a lifestyle and my passion and I’m thankful that I’m able to participate in the sport.”
