How do you put feminism into action at Womankind?
In my role as the Policy and Advocacy Officer, I implement gender focused programs and initiatives that address advancing inclusivity, intersectionality, and centering women and girls’ voices at the forefront. To accomplish this, I actively collaborate with my colleagues and Womankind partners and continuously stay informed about the most recent research, policy developments, and emerging issues related to gender equality. All these efforts are aligned with the principles of feminism.
Tell us about your feminist journey?
My feminist journey is ever evolving! I remain dedicated to learning, actively engaging, and embracing the concept of intersectionality, which acknowledges the interconnected nature of gender and other forms of oppression. In doing so, I strive to amplify the voices of marginalized women and girls and advocate for their rights.
A feminist hero of yours?
Maya Angelou! She used her voice to address the issues of social justice, including gender inequality and discrimination. I live by her famous words, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
