What we do.

Together with our partners we’re strengthening women's movements and changing the lives of women and girls around the world. We believe every woman should be able to live without fear of violence, have a say in decisions that impact her and control her own life.

Womankind Worldwide strengthens and supports women’s rights organisations and movements with the resources they need to challenge oppression and change the lives of women, in the home, the workplace and the communities they live in.

Led by our partners, we build successful projects together, amplify women’s voices and share what’s working. We take collective action with women’s movements to advocate for changes to laws and policies across the world that ensure women’s rights. Together we’re pushing for a world where women and girls don’t just survive but thrive.

Why are we needed?

Women’s rights are human rights, yet women and girls are still denied them in every region of the world. Right now, women and girls across the world face discrimination, live in fear of violence, and have no control over their lives. The reason? Because patriarchy, a system which means women hold less power and are disadvantaged, dominates in societies around the worlds. Society views women and girls as unequal.

A global backlash against women’s rights is on the rise. The rights of women are enshrined in international human rights law but the power imbalances that drive inequality between women and men remain in full force.

A force for change

We know that women have the power to change their own lives. When they join and are supported to work together in movements, their actions become stronger and voices louder. Together we can mobilise, organise, speak up and demand change for all women and girls. Together, we can help to change laws and policies and push for their implementation, challenge damaging attitudes and stereotypes, and secure women’s rights.

Change happens when women come together in movements, to organise and mobilise.

Together with women’s rights organisations and movements we’re working to:

  • End all forms of violence against women and girls.
  • Advance women’s economic rights.
  • Strengthen women’s influence and decision-making power.
