Building Collective Power and Navigating a Women’s Agenda – Feminist lessons on Adaptation, Resistance and Leadership from Women in Zimbabwe

The Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) and Women in Politics Support Unit (WiPSU) with support from Womankind Worldwide and funded by Comic Relief commissioned a Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) under the Collective Action to Realise Equality (CARE) project
in Zimbabwe’s Binga and Nyaminyami Rural Districts. The study took place between February 2022 to November 2022 within a context where Zimbabwe was facing multiple and compounding threats that constrain women from participating in law-making and decision-making processes.

The CARE project partners commissioned this FPAR following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in Zimbabwe, with the aim of rooting their work in women’s lived experiences and strengthening accountability to the movement by documenting strategies for demanding accountability and the ways in which women are organising for change, and exploring ways to achieve 50/50 representation, grounded in the lived realities of women in Zimbabwe.
