How do you put feminism into action at Womankind?
For me, feminism is about challenging power imbalances, creating space for diverse voices, and ensuring that the way we work internally reflects the world we are trying to build. A society that is free, just, and equitable for women, girls, and people of all genders, both now and for future generations.
Tell us about your feminist journey?
My feminist journey began with questioning the norms, expectations, and inequalities that shape our lives. Over time, I found myself not only questioning these systems but actively challenging them. Through both my personal and professional experiences, I have seen how deeply gender and race inequality is embedded in our societies, from subtle biases to structural barriers.
These experiences have shaped my worldview and strengthened my commitment to creating change. Which is what led me to dedicating my career to using my skills, knowledge, and passion to help build a world where no one is limited by their gender or race and where everyone can realise their potential, and where equality is not just an aspiration but a lived reality.
Who is a feminist hero of yours?
My heroes are the countless women who have fought for gender equality and social justice, particularly black women whose courage has created opportunities from which I directly benefit today.
I am also deeply inspired by Shirley Chisholm and her words: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” To me, that quote captures the courage, determination, and creativity needed to challenge exclusion and create change.
