How do you put feminism into action at Womankind?
Feminism is about accountability to each other. As a lawyer and board member I will ensure that Womankind is accountable to movements, and I will anchor it to the best the Womankind team. I would also hold the space for difficult but important conversations and dialogues that the movement needs to reflect on.
Tell us about your feminist journey?
If feminism is the space for all, and if it is radical for its times, I yearn to push it further and make it more inclusive and a bit more experimental for our times. I started as a sexual and reproductive health advocate from South Asia, founded Hidden Pockets Collective in India, joined transnational feminist collective RESURJ and along the way moved in to practise of restorative justice. I have always sought alternatives to current legal and financial infrastructures in our movement building practise. Feminism is only way we can build a world which is inclusive and sustainable.
A feminist hero of yours?
Josephine Chuen-juei Ho : she was one of the first law professors who made me question my own limitations and my own relationship with power within my body. She also showed me kindness as a way to engage with communities. Her work has deeply influenced me.
