How do you put feminism into action at Womankind?
As People, Culture and Wellbeing Manager I am responsible for ensuring that Womankind’s approach to people management exists through an equitable, diverse, and inclusive lens. My work focuses on developing Womankind’s policies and processes to ensure they are in line with anti-racist and feminist practice and our values.
Tell us about your feminist journey?
My studies lead me to want to pursue a career within the international development sector, specifically women’s rights. Originally, wanting to work within the programmatic sphere, however, having gained experience within an operational function, I felt that there was more work to be done on ensuring that charities and the sector as a whole, are committed to being responsible and accountable in their approach and HR allows me to support this through meaningful and practical policy and process development.
Name a feminist hero of yours
Shon Faye. Shon is a writer in LGBTQ+, women’s and mental health issues. For me, she has made these issues accessible to a wider audience than would typically be engaged, she has also bought attention to how problematic the media is in its portrayal of the trans community.
