Saathi is a non-governmental organisation addressing the different forms of violence and discrimination faced by Nepali women and girls.
Saathi was the first organisation that was instrumental in drawing significant national attention towards domestic violence in Nepal as an area requiring urgent attention and intervention to break the silence that impacts the lives of many marginalised women and girls.
They provide services such as counselling, medical care and temporary shelter to women survivors. And they also teach them practical skills so they can live independent, violent-free lives.
Saathi also coordinates a loose network of 36 organisations called the “National Network Against Domestic Violence” (NNADV). This network was formed to pressure the government to pass the Domestic Violence (Crime and Punishment) Act. The Act was passed in 2009.
