More Than a Roof: Documenting the work of specialist women’s organisations providing holistic shelter services in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe
“When I first arrived I wanted to commit suicide, but whilst I was at Musasa my mind changed completely. I felt there was light at the end of the tunnel.” – Rejoice, aged 28.
Our partners, ASWAD in Ethiopia and Musasa in Zimbabwe, provide holistic shelter services for women and girls who have survived extreme violence.
Womankind researchers worked with them to document their approaches, including interviewing women survivors of violence, specialist staff that support them and key members of the community in both countries, such as government officials and the police.
