Just 25% of the world’s parliamentarians are women, and this International Women’s Day, our supporters have been taking action to change that!
By Ellie Poole
This March, we challenged our supporters to get involved in a fundraising activity inspired by the number 25. The variety of activities that our supporters have come up with so far have been astounding. Here are a few examples that we think are great!
Braving the cold…

The lovely Angela Lambert plans to take 25 cold dips throughout the month. She says, “I am taking a cold-water dip, either in a morning shower, in the sea or in a lovely wild pond nearby as part of the Womankind 25 Challenge.”
Braving the nippy water, Angela has raised £290 so far! This is absolutely amazing and we can’t thank her enough.
25 lines of a feminist poem
Susan Graham was inspired to get creative with her 25 Challenge. She has written 25 lines of a feminist poem and shared it with her friends to raise awareness of the issues faced by women and girls around the world. Each line starts with a letter from the words ‘It’s International Women’s Day’. A very clever feat. Well done, Susan!
We are strong
The brilliant Rosie and Chantelle were eager to fundraise for International Women’s Day, so they hosted an empowering virtual fitness and yoga class for women and encouraged their attendees to donate to Womankind Worldwide.
They have managed to raise a fabulous total of £778 so far. That’s absolutely incredible, a very big thank you to you both.
Celebrating women and girls this IWD
Karen McIntyre hosted an International Women’s Day Raid Train live on the streaming platform, Twitch. From 5pm to 1am, several DJs from around the world performed live one after another, giving the proceeds from the event – an excellent total of £247! – very kindly to Womankind Worldwide. A very big thank you to all involved for supporting Womankind.
Well-behaved women rarely make history…
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Siobhan Etherington, designer and founder of Little Twigs Designs, produced a design showcasing some of history’s most iconic women. She has kindly donated the profits from her design to Womankind, raising a total of £52 so far!

If you have been inspired by any of these activities and would like to fundraise for Womankind Worldwide, simply decide on your activity and set up a fundraising page using JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving. Then, let your friends and family know so they can support you! Every pound raised goes a long way in making a difference in the lives of women and girls across the world.
